Position Summary
The Parent Coach supports The Well Community Collective’s two-generation approach by empowering caregivers of at-risk youth, justice-involved adolescents, and young adults aging out of foster care to build stronger, healthier family relationships. This role provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive parent coaching, helping families develop effective communication, emotional regulation, and parenting strategies that promote stability and connection. The Parent Coach works collaboratively with TWCC’s behavioral and wellness teams to deliver family-centered interventions that align with holistic wellness goals across mind, body, and spirit.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct family intake and needs assessments to identify strengths, challenges, and supports.
- Facilitate 1:1 and group-based parent coaching sessions using connection-based and trauma-informed models.
- Support parents in developing Family Support Plans (FSPs) to improve family communication, structure, and emotional health.
- Collaborate with behavioral specialists, literacy coaches, and clinical staff to align family goals with youth wellness and educational outcomes.
- Provide psychoeducation on topics such as emotional regulation, healthy discipline, boundaries, and attachment.
- Model empathy-driven communication and positive parenting strategies.
- Participate in team case reviews, parent workshops, and family engagement events.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and communication logs.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Development, Family Studies, or related field (required).
- Master’s degree or clinical licensure (LPC, LMFT, LMSW, or PMHNP) preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with at-risk youth, families involved with DJJ or DFCS, or parents in recovery or transition.
- Experience with trauma-informed care, parenting education, and family systems approaches preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of trauma’s impact on child and family dynamics.
- Excellent communication, motivational interviewing, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to engage resistant families with empathy and cultural sensitivity.
- Skilled in reflective listening and strengths-based coaching.
