Job Title: Child & Family Therapist

Reports To: Clinical Coordinator

Location: Partner Sites — Early Childhood Centers, Schools

Clinical Supervision: Approved Georgia Clinical Supervisor (as applicable for licensure requirements)

Location: Partner agencies, schools, early learning centers, juvenile court programs, community organizations, and family-serving sites throughout Metro Atlanta.

Schedule: Daytime availability must be between: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Compensation: Part-Time Contract Position

Position Summary

The Child & Family Therapist supports The Well Community Collective’s (TWCC) Trauma-Informed Therapeutic 2-Generation Support Model by providing high-quality behavioral health services to children, adolescents, caregivers, and families across educational, community-based, and family-centered settings.

The Therapist serves as the primary clinical treatment provider responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, facilitating individual, family, and group therapy services, and supporting emotional, behavioral, relational, and family wellness outcomes.

The Therapist works collaboratively within TWCC's multidisciplinary team to support children and families experiencing trauma, behavioral challenges, emotional difficulties, educational barriers, family conflict, court involvement, foster care involvement, and other social determinants impacting wellness.

This role emphasizes clinical excellence, treatment progression, trauma-informed care, interdisciplinary collaboration, documentation quality, and measurable client outcomes.

Core Responsibilities:Clinical Assessment & Evaluation

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and family wellness assessments
  • Identify emotional, behavioral, developmental, relational, and environmental factors impacting functioning
  • Assess strengths, protective factors, risks, and support needs
  • Develop clinical recommendations and treatment priorities
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and case reviews

Treatment Planning & Clinical Care

  • Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans
  • Establish measurable treatment goals and objectives
  • Provide:
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Psychoeducational interventions
  • Trauma-informed therapeutic support
  • Utilize evidence-based and developmentally appropriate interventions
  • Support emotional regulation, resilience-building, coping skills, communication, and relationship repair
  • Monitor treatment progress and adjust interventions as clinically indicated

Trauma-Informed Therapeutic Services

  • Utilize trauma-informed, culturally responsive, strengths-based, and relationship-centered approaches
  • Support clients impacted by:
  • Trauma
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Family conflict
  • Behavioral challenges
  • Foster care involvement
  • Juvenile justice involvement
  • Adverse childhood experiences
  • Promote emotional safety, healing, resilience, and healthy attachment

Family Systems & Caregiver Engagement

  • Collaborate with caregivers and family systems throughout treatment
  • Support healthy communication and family functioning
  • Provide psychoeducation related to:
  • Trauma
  • Child development
  • Emotional regulation
  • Family relationships
  • Parenting support
  • Coordinate with Parent Coaches regarding family wellness goals and Family Support Plans (FSPs)

Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Participation

  • Participate in MDT meetings and case consultations
  • Present assessment findings and clinical recommendations
  • Collaborate in development of:
  • Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
  • Family Support Plans (FSPs)
  • Action Plans
  • Behavioral support recommendations
  • Assist teams in identifying therapeutic goals and treatment priorities
  • Support continuity of care across home, school, and community settings

Behavioral Health Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Behavioral Specialists regarding behavioral concerns and intervention effectiveness
  • Provide therapeutic recommendations that support Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development
  • Support understanding of trauma, emotional regulation, and behavioral functioning among multidisciplinary staff
  • Assist with identifying clients requiring additional services, evaluations, or referrals

Documentation & Clinical Quality

  • Complete:
  • Assessments
  • Treatment Plans
  • Progress Notes
  • Treatment Reviews
  • Discharge Summaries
  • Clinical Reports
  • Maintain documentation according to TWCC standards and clinical best practices
  • Complete documentation within required timelines
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews and clinical audits
  • Maintain accurate and objective clinical records

Group Facilitation & Program Support

  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups for:
  • Children
  • Adolescents
  • Caregivers
  • Families
  • Support curriculum implementation and development
  • Participate in community wellness initiatives, workshops, and family engagement activities as assigned

Professional Development & Supervision

  • Participate in required clinical supervision for licensure
  • Attend TWCC trainings, meetings, and professional development activities
  • Demonstrate ongoing growth in:
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Family systems approaches
  • Child and adolescent behavioral health
  • Group facilitation
  • Community-based behavioral health services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required in:
  • Counseling
  • Clinical Mental Health Counseling
  • Social Work
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Psychology
  • Behavioral Health
  • or related field

AND

One of the following Georgia credentials:

  • Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC)
  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (AMFT)

Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
