Role Description
The Vision Detroit is seeking a Graphic Design Intern (Part-Time, Volunteer) to join our team in Detroit, MI. In this role, you’ll support the development of visual assets that represent and uplift our creative community — including flyers, event graphics, social media content, and other brand materials. You will collaborate closely with our Director of Visual Arts and the design team to execute creative projects and contribute to new branding and marketing initiatives. This position offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and the chance to build a strong portfolio while working within a supportive, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Create and refine visual designs for events, programs, and brand campaigns
- Support the development of cohesive and visually compelling branding materials
- Collaborate with the Director of Visual Arts and design team on creative concepts
- Contribute ideas to branding, marketing, and community engagement initiatives
- Meet project deadlines and maintain high-quality design standards
Qualifications
- Proficiency in graphic design fundamentals (layout, color, typography)
- Experience with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Procreate, etc.)
- Familiarity with branding and cohesive visual identity
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
- Good communication skills and comfort working collaboratively
- Coursework or previous experience in Graphic Design or related fields is a plus
- A passion for Detroit, arts, and community development

This is a volunteer role within an emerging nonprofit committed to supporting Detroit’s creative ecosystem. We can provide volunteer hours or internship credit (as required by your school or program). While the role is currently unpaid, our long-term goal is to secure funding to compensate staff as we grow. You’ll be part of a mission-driven community and gain real-world experience that directly impacts Detroit’s arts scene.
