Role Overview: The RN in the Cardiac Neuro ICU Transition Program provides professional nursing care, assessing patient conditions, recognizing changes, planning and evaluating care, and documenting observations. They serve as team members, delegate tasks appropriately, and adhere to hospital policies and the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities: Participate in an 8-12 week critical care nurse transition training with preceptors, followed by 8 weeks of dedicated education. Support patients in a critical care environment within the Medical-Surgical ICU or Cardiac-Neuro ICU. Maintain competency in critical thinking, monitoring, and documentation to ensure quality patient care.
Qualifications: Required: Associate Degree or higher in Nursing, Illinois RN licensure, CPR certification, and at least 1 year of inpatient RN experience. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or higher, ECG monitoring, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale certification, and 2 years of RN experience.
Skills & Certifications: Critical thinking, assessment, delegation, teamwork, and relevant certifications such as ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale are preferred for advanced practice.
