Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and health history reviews using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications via injections, IV infusions, catheterizations, and other methods following aseptic techniques and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety.
- Provide specialized care in areas such as ICU, trauma medicine at Level I and Level II trauma centers, emergency room settings, or post-acute environments like hospice and palliative medicine.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, radiology procedures like sonography or mammography, and wound suturing when necessary.
- Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, infectious disease care, behavioral health needs, or geriatrics including memory care and Alzheimer’s/dementia care.
- Educate patients and families on health coaching, discharge planning, medication administration, nutrition, and chronic disease management tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized care plans aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding requirements for accurate documentation.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in the state of employment with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation.
- Critical care experience preferred—especially ICU or trauma center experience—along with familiarity in emergency medicine and urgent care settings.
- Skills in IV insertion/infusion therapy, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and sterile processing techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology knowledge, ICD-10 coding standards, CPT coding for procedures and treatments.
- Ability to perform physical examinations effectively while demonstrating excellent patient assessment skills.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is highly valued; additional experience in hospice & palliative medicine or occupational health is a plus.
