What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse position at County of Tulare?
The Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) is currently recruiting a Registered Nurse. The successful candidate must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, the public, staff, and other departments and agencies. This position will work closely with licensed and non-licensed personnel to assess and coordinate services. This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill immediate and future vacancies throughout HHSA’s Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Human Services Branches. Incumbents working in Public Health Programs in the Public Health Branch will provide services to people with a variety of social and economic backgrounds (a variety of ages, different cultures, etc.). Public Health Programs include California Children’s Services, the Child Health and Disability Program, Public Health Nursing Community Health, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, Communicable Disease, and Tuberculosis programs. Duties will include interaction with medical and mental health service providers on behalf of clients and HHSA staff. Incumbents working in the Public Health Branch, Mental Health Branch, and Human Services Branch may visit clients in their homes.
Candidates accepting one of these positions may be eligible for loan repayment of up to $16,000 in exchange for a 12-month service obligation practicing and providing direct patient care in an underserved community. - Administer and record medication, immunizations, and treatments rendered to patients.
- Obtain necessary laboratory specimens, evaluate results of tests, route abnormal results to the appropriate physician, and complete necessary charges on patient records.
- Arrange for appointments and referrals of patients.
- Provide education and counseling to clients with various health conditions.
- Give instructions to patients and family on medications, diet, and medical procedures.
- Attend various meetings and training sessions.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet the qualifications listed below by the application deadline
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- A valid Registered Nurse License issued by the California State Board of Nursing
Conditions of Employment
- Candidates selected will be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted, which may include a re-investigation every 10 years for some positions. An Employment Eligibility Verification using E-Verify may be required on the first day of employment for some positions. Some job classes may also require a physical exam.
- If in a driving position candidates must be able to obtain and retain a valid California driver's license.
