Culinary Associate

Overview
Assists in the preparation, serving and handling of food in accordance with state and local regulations and the facility policies and procedures. Washes dishes, pots, pans and utensils as directed. Maintains clean and sanitized kitchen area and may assist in the receiving, rotation and storage of products.

Responsibilities

• Assist Prep Cook, Sous Chef and/or Culinary Director in preparing menus and cooks food in accordance with nutritional guidelines, regulations and resident’s individual prescribed diet and food preferences.
• Assist in serving of food in dining room and assists with coordinating food service for special events as requested.
• Notify supervisor of any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliance.
• Washes dishes, utensils, pots, pans in a prescribed manner in accordance with local regulations.
• Ensure compliance with local health department regulations and the facility’s policies and procedures regarding food handling, preparation and sanitation.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of food and washing/sanitizing in accordance with infection control standards

Requirements

• Proven experience in a restaurant or culinary environment is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
• Experience with meal preparation techniques and culinary skills - proper use of kitchen appliances for cooking and dishwashing purposes.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• A passion for culinary arts and commitment to continuous learning in the field.
• Desire to work with older adults.
