Within the spirit of “Making People’s Dreams Come True”, this position is responsible for selling advertising schedules based on advertiser marketing needs within The Villages Daily Sun newspaper. Achieving budgeted revenue goals by developing all new/incremental business possible in assigned territory, for maintaining an awareness of local competitive conditions and improving market share. These duties are accomplished while delivering Raving Fans customer service to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities
- Sell advertising space in all Villages Daily Sun print products and outside directories.
- Solicit and acquire new advertising customers, secure continued advertising from former and current customers to meet sales goals and objectives set by the company.
- Call on customers to assess advertising needs and set up advertising budget, advertisement size, content, run date(s), copy/layout, calculate rates and quote them to customer.
- Assist customers in developing strategies concerning advertisement run dates, how to best reach target customers relative to newspaper section, and the benefits of advertising.
- Service customers who buy advertising by following up to ensure that their requirements have been met, ensure that customers receive tear sheets, co-op statements, accurate Daily Sun invoices, etc.
- Handle collection of past due accounts; contact advertisers who are past due to plan for the collection of monies due to the Media Group.
- Write out insertion orders and other paperwork; process sales progress reports as required by management.
- Attend retail advertising sales meetings as well as performing other various duties as needed.
- Face-to-face interaction with clients is essential to this position and it is expected that the employee’s personal vehicle is used to drive to each client's place of business on a regular basis to maintain appropriate levels of customer service for their account.
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two (2) year college or technical school; or one (1) year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic use of Microsoft Office programs is necessary.
- This position is subjected to The Villages Vehicle Safety Program and its policies as it requires the use of personal vehicles for company business. Please refer to the Vehicle Safety Program for the policies and procedures that this position is required to follow.
- A Valid Driver’s License with a record acceptable to company standards is required for this position.
