SUMMARY OF POSITION
In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Nursing Home Administrator oversees and coordinates the care and daily operations of the nursing care department, ensuring high-qualify resident care, regulatory compliance with all pertinent Federal, State and industry wide standards, staff management and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
- Current license in the State of Ohio as a Nursing Home Administrator.
- Maintains required hours of annual CEU credits that relate to Nursing Care that fulfill requirements of professional license.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration.
- 1-3 years of experience in long term care setting, minimum of 3 years of experience preferred.
- At least one year in supervisory capacity in nursing home or health care facility, preferred minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Training in and strong knowledge of aging services.
- Demonstrated understanding of current issues related to aging, health, and social policy and their influences on service delivery.
- Ohio Drivers’ license in good standing.
- Expected to work beyond normal working hours when necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities with demanding timeframes.
- Ability to be flexible due to potential of unknowns and rapidly shifting priorities.
- Able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds independently and over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Possesses the ability to bend, stoop and reach at different angles.
- Walks stands and sits intermittently during the day.
- Well-lighted, well-ventilated work areas.
- Works and communicates professionally with public, personnel and residents under all conditions.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Travels to and participates in meetings and seminars.
- Demonstrates evidence of leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Able to manage and supervise staff appropriately.
- Computer proficiency with understanding of business and industry related applications such as PCC/POC.

Essential Functions:
- Operationalizes the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward through the delivery of quality care that enhances the quality of life for those who call the campus home.
- Directs and collaborates with staff to obtain/maintain regulatory compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations and standards promulgated by agencies having jurisdiction including the state and federal government and JCAHO.
- Monitors contracts to assure compliance with terms and conditions.
- Seeks out, plans, develops, organizes and implements new programmatic initiatives consistent with the overall goals and philosophy of The Village of St. Edward in conjunction with Executive Director.
- Provides leadership to management and all other staff; ensuring that employees have required training and skills, understand the organization’s mission and expectations, and provides supervision and direction.
- Establishes and maintains clear performance expectations for staff including completion of onboarding documentation and performance evaluations in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Holds staff accountable for following work rules and administrative and departmental policies and procedures.
- Provides regular feedback on individual employee’s performance with timely evaluations, including disciplinary action, if necessary.
- Works collaboratively with Human Resources on hiring and retention of employees and achievement of facility goals and benchmarks.
- Recruits, hires and disciplines staff as appropriate in accordance with The Village of St. Edward policies and procedures.
- Attends and participates on necessary or assigned work groups.
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, and other appropriate staff, establishes policies related to resident care, personnel, medical staff, financial status, service delivery and maintenance of campus (building and grounds).
- Communicates policies to staff and other appropriate parties.
- As necessary and in conjunction with Human Resources and the Executive Director, establishes and reviews job descriptions and other operational policies and procedures.
- Regularly reviews the physical condition of the campus facilities. Communications, directs repairs and routine maintenance of the nursing care department consistent with budgetary limitations of the organization.
- In conjunction with Sales team, ensures that the facility’s census goals are met including actively marketing the community, maintaining relationships with hospitals, other health care facilities and community groups, and understanding the competitive market and making necessary changes to respond.
- In conjunction with The Village of St. Edward Admissions staff, processes resident applications, conducts tours of the facility, completes and assists with the admissions process. Assures that the admission process runs smoothly.
- Contributes to the establishment of the annual and capital budgets including making recommendations for appropriate staffing and resources.
- Monitors operating performance against the budget for areas of responsibility; investigating and correcting variances.
- Achieves and maintains high customer service ratings including consistently working to meet the needs of consumers, residents and families in a kind and helpful manner. Recognizing and acting upon resident, family and team concerns and suggestions in a timely manner.
- Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relations.
- Completes work in an accurate, timely and effective manner which aides others in completing their duties, in compliance with job requirements.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Identifies strengths and limitations of professional practice and uses this assessment to select appropriate educational opportunities.
- Supports the philosophy of person-centered care (PCC) by actively participating in the person-centered care process. Fosters development and enhancement of person-centered care practices.
