Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver an extraordinary customer experience by providing exceptional service and educating customers about our wide range of products and services. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities, and the capability to work collaboratively within a team. The associate will need be proficient in computer applications, have a keen eye for detail, and possess the physical stamina to handle tasks that may require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
Customer Interaction and Service:
- Using the “Four Basics” to provide extraordinary customer experience.
- Greet customers warmly and ascertain their needs.
- Provide detailed information about products and services offered by The UPS Store.
- Resolve customer inquiries and issues in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Build lasting relationships with customers to encourage repeat business.
The “Four Basic”:
- Warmly greet the customer with in the first 5 seconds they walk in the door.
- Provide the customer with the “Pack and Ship Guarantee” when they are shipping.
- Using the “Shipping Cadence” to provide the customer with different shipping options to best fit their needs.
- Provide the customer with our “Bounce Back” flyer. Talk about the special for the month and invite them back to the store.
Shipping and Packaging:
- Using the “Shipping Cadence”.
- Using the “Pack and Ship Guarantee”.
- Pack merchandise securely and efficiently for shipment.
- Ensure all packages are processed accurately, charged the appropriate rate for the level of packing required for the shipment to arrive safe and sound to its final destination.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of shipping regulations and requirements.
Document Services:
- Assist customers with document-related services, including copying, printing, faxing, laminating, and binding.
- Ensure documents are produced to high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Advise customers on the best document solutions for their needs.
Sales Transactions:
- Operate a computerized cash register to process sales transactions accurately.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions securely and efficiently.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers as necessary.
- Balance the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts.
Store Maintenance and Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment.
- Ensure that all products are well-stocked and displayed neatly.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks to ensure a pleasant shopping experience for customers.
- Follow all safety and security procedures to ensure the safety of staff and customers.
Team Collaboration:
- Work effectively with other team members to ensure smooth store operations.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
- Provide support to other team members during busy periods or when needed.
- Share knowledge and best practices with the team to improve overall store performance.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for several hours at a time.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Additional Duties:
- The availability to work on weekends.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
