Scope of Job
The School of Accountancy in the Robert C. Vackar College of Business and Entrepreneurship at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications from qualified candidates for a Lecturer – Three (3) Year faculty position in accounting. Salary and benefits are AACSB-competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the accounting program. The expected starting date is September 1, 2026.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet all the following criteria to receive full consideration:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an AACSB accredited institution
- Master’s degree in accounting or taxation from an AACSB accredited institution
- A minimum of five (5) years of college level teaching experience within the last ten (10) years, including at least 1 year of teaching experience immediately preceding the expected start date of September 1, 2026
- Demonstrated ability to teach taxation courses, with clear evidence of having taught tax courses in the recent past
- Submission of student teaching evaluations and other documentation demonstrating teaching effectiveness

Candidates who meet the minimum requirements will receive additional consideration based on the following criteria
- A minimum of ten (10) years of professional practice in the field of accounting or taxation
- A CPA licensure or other recognized professional accounting certification (e.g., CMA, EA, CIA, CFE).
- Evidence of community involvement such as participation in a professional society and/or serving as a speaker for local or regional events is a plus. As an ideal candidate, you will be willing to share your work experience in accounting, auditing, or tax with our students and contribute to program development as they prepare for careers after graduation.

Three-Year Lecturers are paid a 9-month academic rate commensurate with experience and/or qualification in the discipline. Including Budgetary Approval.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
