Job Summary

A key member within the office of the enrollment services, the position is responsible for executing and supporting the strategic goals and directives of the office and its associated programs. This includes programs such as the one-stop service center, university contact center, student records operations, and Texas success initiative. The primary focus of the position is to provide individual attention to students and to consult with them regarding their student accounts. Enrollment Service Officers are responsible for assisting and teaching students about financial aid and student records, while upholding the utmost accuracy, security, and efficiency. This position is embedded on the front counter within the one-stop service center. All staff members within enrollment services receive extensive training and are expected to navigate shared service transactions for enrollment management, for all populations of students, no matter where they are on their academic journey. Occasionally required to work evening and weekends, typically related to registration, commencement, or orientation.


Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Meeting with students and the community (external customer service) or faculty and advisors (internal customer service) to solve problems, counsel, and provide information regarding the successful navigation of the student experience.
  • Responsible for counseling and providing information regarding undergraduate and graduate admission policies, registration, financial aid, and fiscal services.
  • Advise and enroll students in courses or address any barrier to admissions and continued enrollment at UT Tyler.
  • Counseling students on policies and procedures.
  • Delivers concierge services to students by responding to requests.
  • Resolves complaints by investigating issues.
  • Responding via in-person visits, phone calls, email inquiries, and live chat mediums all through the One-Stop Service Center.
  • Maintains detailed records of students when meeting with them.
  • Support the successful completion of deliverables for other programs and responsibilities, such as TSI reviews, student records operations, and the university contact center.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of previous experience in the education field, particularly enrollment services/management.
  • May accept a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • Case management knowledge.
  • Bookkeeping experience.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate events and activities.
  • Proficiency in managing and reviewing documentation.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and software systems quickly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Interact professionally with students, faculty, and university leadership.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and initiative in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ethical.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
