Job Location: Union Complex

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $46,550 annually

Position Summary

The Testing Coordinator in the Disability Services Office is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the administration of accommodations for students with disabilities during exams. This role ensures a fair, accessible, and efficient testing process for students requiring accommodations, in alignment with institutional policies and legal requirements. The Testing Coordinator collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to facilitate accommodations, ensures confidentiality, and provides excellent customer service. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information in a professional manner.

Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities

Test Coordination & Administration:

  • Coordinate and schedule exams for students with disabilities, ensuring accommodations are met in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work with faculty to ensure all required testing accommodations are implemented properly, including but not limited to extended time, alternative formats, and adaptive technology.
  • Prepare test materials, proctoring instructions, and necessary resources for each exam.
  • Oversee the setup of testing spaces to ensure compliance with accommodation needs, including providing quiet or distraction-free environments.
  • Ensure that specialized equipment or software for testing accommodations is available and functioning properly (e.g., screen readers, Braille materials, etc.).
  • Coordinate with other campus offices (e.g., testing center, academic departments) to facilitate accommodations and resolve any logistical issues.

Student & Faculty Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for students requesting testing accommodations and provide guidance on the process.
  • Provide clear communication to faculty and students about testing accommodations and expectations for exam day.
  • Train faculty and staff on best practices for accommodating students during exams and addressing accessibility concerns.
  • Monitor and address any issues or concerns raised by students or faculty regarding accommodations or test administration.

Record-Keeping & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of all testing accommodations, including exam schedules, student requests, and any communication with students and faculty.
  • Ensure all testing records are kept confidential and in compliance with privacy laws (e.g., FERPA).
  • Document all instances of accommodations and track usage of testing center services to ensure students are receiving the appropriate support.

Data Collection For Institutional Planning And Reporting

  • Strategic Planning: Coordinators often collect data to support institutional planning. This includes gathering information on student enrollment trends, retention rates, academic performance, and student demographics. This data helps higher education institutions make informed decisions about resource allocation, program development, and future growth.
  • Feedback Data: Coordinators often collect feedback from students, faculty, and staff about the effectiveness of courses, programs, and teaching methods. This feedback informs continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Decision Support: By providing timely and accurate data, coordinators play a crucial role in supporting decision-making at various levels, from departmental to institutional.

Compliance & Legal Adherence

  • Stay informed about and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations regarding disability accommodations and testing.
  • Ensure that testing accommodations meet legal requirements under ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), Section 504, and other applicable laws.
  • Participate in audits and reviews related to testing accommodations and provide required documentation for compliance reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training related to disability services, testing protocols, and assistive technologies.
  • Contribute to the review and improvement of testing procedures and accommodations within the office.
  • Assist with the development of training materials and resources for faculty and staff related to testing accommodations.

Other Duties As Assigned

  • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the Disability Services office.
  • Help with event planning, outreach, and awareness efforts related to accessibility and accommodations.
  • Assist with data collection

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

and

Experience: Three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: A degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.

Experience coordinating testing accommodations or working with students with disabilities

Experience with assistive technology and online testing.
