What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate student in medicinal chemistry position at The University of Texas at El Paso?
Our lab is actively seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our multidisciplinary research team. We focus on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of small molecules with neuroinflammation inhibitory activity and seek the applications of our molecules in substance abuse, traumatic brain injury, vascular dementia, and pain.
What You’ll Work On:
- Design and synthesis of novel small molecules
- Application of modern analytical and purification techniques
- In vitro biological screening and structure–activity relationship (SAR) development
- Collaborative projects at the interface of chemistry and biology
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong background or keen interest in organic/synthetic medicinal chemistry
- Motivation to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Interest or experience in analytical methods (e.g., NMR, LC-MS, HPLC)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
