Under limited supervision, the primary purpose of the position is to provide Systems Administration and 24×7 support for the University’s Data Center infrastructure, enterprise servers and applications. The primary focus is systems administration and support of Window Servers and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers and other platform technologies supported by the team.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from four-year College, University or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Experience: Three years of experience in the field of Information Technology, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of common server hardware architecture including servers (CPU, bus, memory), SANS, disk arrays, network hardware.
Excellent understanding of Operating Systems (e.g., Windows, LINUX, VAX/VMS, VMWare vSphere) including processes, files, memory management and I/O systems;
distributed information systems including 2 and 3 tier designs, and web-based systems; networking services and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SSL, FTP, Telnet, LDAP)
Basic understanding of IP networking, basic routing, TCP ports and network services, including SSH, LDAP, SFTP and HTTP(S).
Basic understanding of change control and configuration management, patch management, high availability systems, structured design and support methodologies.
Program system support tasks in C, Java, Perl, batch, PowerShell or other general-purpose programming language; perform complex performance analysis including system
processes, I/O subsystems, networks and other related components.
Occasional travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of experience working in a fast paced, DevOps, team oriented, enterprise level, and managing information systems, related hardware/software, and associated business processes focused to push the organization forward is preferred.
Experience innovating and championing new technologies within a team environment. Highly skilled in oral and written communications with the ability to work as an independent, productive, responsible, self-motivated member of a team in high pressure situations.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and strong problem-solving skills desired, while demonstrating ability to work adeptly with employees at all organizational
levels to efficiently and effectively prioritize, utilize, and meet project deadlines.

Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate the administrative activities required to support network, server configuration, hardware and software installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and operating procedures in a Higher Education environment
- Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of servers running Window Server or Linux OS
- Maintain, secure and operational RHEL Satellite infrastructure.
- Maintain, secure and operational RHEL Ansible infrastructure, as well as assisting and creating automation playbooks.
- Maintain, secure and operate the Citrix environment as well as the creation and troubleshooting VDIs.
- knowledge of Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus and Jupiter Notebooks.
- Have a strong understanding of Linux in particular RHEL as this role responsibility is 90% Linux.
- Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems
- Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases
- Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal Information Resources teams
- Conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
- Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users
- The Enterprise System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of servers’ infrastructure
- Perform Server administration for Server Operating Systems
- Performs administration of physical and virtualized servers
- Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical server hardware
- Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on servers
- Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers
- Develop and execute system security procedures including audits of user rights and operation system security
- Write Advanced PowerShell scripts that are designed for Enterprise systems administration, automation and improvements
- Evaluate software applications/hardware products to determine potential use and compatibility with current systems
- Provides input and follows a Disaster Recovery Plan for Physical and Virtual Servers
- Executes Security Compliancy processes and policies
- Executes necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies and procedures
- Remain up to date on products available in the market; support new technologies
- Virtual Server Configuration: primarily working within a VMware environment, potentially performing move and add changes as well as upgrades of the VMware infrastructure
- Administration and maintenance of Active Directory and VMware environments
- Application virtualization; working with hardware, software, and configurations at datacenter locations as well as with Cloud Platforms
