Position Information

Hiring Department: Special Facilities Management

Job Location: El Paso, TX; On-site

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $40,480 annually

Position Summary

Directs institutional housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment.

Statement Of Responsibilities And Duties

Administrative Duties

  • Supervise custodial staff and assigned projects; establish work standards, procedures, and expectations.
  • Plan, assign, and oversee daily work for full-time and temporary staff.
  • Monitor employee performance, attendance, and policy compliance.
  • Review work orders, estimate labor and materials, and coordinate with other departments.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment, report shortages.
  • Address service issues and customer complaints; conduct follow-ups to ensure quality.
  • Resolve employee concerns and maintain effective communication with staff.
  • Use communication devices (radio, phone) and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Ensure compliance with University, State, and departmental policies.

Event Services Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead custodial supervisor for special events.
  • Coordinate cleaning coverage and staff assignments before, during, and after events.
  • Ensure facilities meet event and University cleanliness standards.
  • Support special projects and programs related to events.

Other Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections of buildings (offices, restrooms, corridors, common areas, etc.).
  • Identify maintenance issues and recommend repairs or improvements.
  • Perform minor repairs and painting as needed.
  • Operate and oversee custodial equipment (floor scrubbers, buffers, carpet machines, etc.).
  • Train staff on safe and proper equipment use.
  • Enforce safety regulations and conduct safety meetings.

Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's objectives, policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

and

Experience: Four years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Occasional travel may be required.

Note: This position requires a valid, Texas Class C driver's license or the equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in English/Spanish

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems and others as needed.
