The UTEP Department of English invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction beginning Fall 2026. The appointed faculty member will be expected to teach courses in the First Year Composition program and will have opportunities to teach across the undergraduate curriculum (based on the candidate's experience and expertise). Current instructional needs include courses for our programs in English and American Literature, English Education, and Rhetoric & Writing Studies. The teaching load is 4 courses per semester with the expectation of some departmental service throughout the year.
Job Requirements
Applicants must have a doctoral degree in English, Literature, English Education, Rhetoric & Writing Studies, or a related field. A record of teaching excellence is required, and experience teaching First Year Composition is highly preferred. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is also highly desirable.
