Laboratory Research Technician III
The University of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine Division of Rheumatology is seeking to hire a Laboratory Research Technician III. Responsibilities will include cellular and molecular immunology techniques, mouse colony maintenance, and general lab maintenance. The candidate will also be responsible for training and providing technical assistance to students and fellows, as well as ordering lab supplies and maintaining a general laboratory inventory. Previous experience in the techniques listed, post B.S. degree, is desirable
Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.
Mouse husbandry. Isolation of mouse spleen and lymph nodes, liver, and brain. Maintenance of primary cell culture and experiments related to leukocyte and astrocyte phenotype and function. Preparation of tissue culture media and maintenance of cell bank. Perform fluorescence activated cell sorter analysis of cell surface and intracellular molecules, cell proliferation assays and ELISA.
Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
