Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to the entire UNCG campus. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of over 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on over 275 acres.

Position Summary
To provide high quality Division 1 service and maintenance to the sports fields of UNC Greensboro. Position will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and game day preparation of sports fields, including clay management, turf management, field marking and general landscape maintenance on the Athletics facilities on the campus of UNC Greensboro. Primary duties and responsibilities consist of the following:

This position is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.

Minimum Qualifications
High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of progressive experience in horticultural work; or associate’s degree in agriculture and natural resources, greenhouse and grounds
maintenance, horticulture technology, landscape gardening or closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Valid NC Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields; the seeding, sodding and maintenance practices for sports field turf grass; the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials; drainage control methods; and irrigation system, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
- High level of understanding of the NCAA requirements for field layouts and markings.
- Pesticide license preferred.
