Responsibilities
- The Histotechnician functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for pre-analytical specimen preparation and processing, embedding, microtomy and maintaining the equipment under the direction of Histology/Pathology department leadership, Pathologist or designee.
- The position may also perform specimen grossing of surgically removed tissue under the supervision of the Pathologist.
- All duties performed will be within the guidelines set forth by regulatory and hospital guidelines to maintain, manage and assure specimen integrity.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, laboratory science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, OR biology, chemistry with education/training equivalent.
- ASCP or equivalent certification as a histotechnologist.
- Experience within a clinical or anatomic pathology department.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- 6 months’ experience as Histotechnologist.
