The Career Coach Manager reports to and works under the strategic direction of the Associate Director of Corporate Engagement, serving as a high-level personnel supervisor and operational strategist within the USS team. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role serves as the primary strategic liaison between USS and assigned academic departments, driving comprehensive relationship management with corporate employers, students, and alumni.

Crucially, this position carries direct supervisory authority over full-time personnel and is charged with workforce planning, scaling operational processes, and architecting the onboarding, training, and performance evaluation frameworks for expanding career coaching verticals as college and departmental needs grow.

Personnel Supervision, Training Architecture & Vertical Scaling

  • Direct Supervision: Serve as the formal supervisor for assigned full-time equivalent (FTE) Career Coaches; manage daily workloads, establish performance metrics, and conduct formal annual performance evaluations.
  • Training & Onboarding Design: Architect, execute, and continuously update a standardized, scalable training model and onboarding framework for incoming career coaching staff to ensure uniformity in coaching quality and technological proficiency.
  • Vertical Scaling & Workforce Planning: Lead the operational expansion of the career coaching vertically, as student enrollment grows; design workflows, delegate team alignments, and scale processes to integrate new coaching headcount seamlessly.
  • Advanced Pedagogy Leadership: Serve as the chief subject matter expert on advanced coaching techniques and modern job-search methodologies, auditing coaching staff to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • AI & Technology Stewardship: Spearhead the strategic integration and team-wide training of emerging career technologies (e.g., generative AI tools, Handshake, LinkedIn, AI resume parsers, and interview simulators) to optimize team-wide workflow and student marketability.

Strategic Corporate Engagement & Academic Liaison

  • Departmental Alignment: Partner directly with Academic Department Heads, Directors, and faculty via regular strategic briefings to align departmental career goals with rapidly evolving corporate hiring expectations. Provide career coaching as determined by TCOB and USS leadership.
  • Market Positioning & Policy Recommendation: Benchmark the college’s recruiting ecosystem, placement data, and career services against peer and aspirant institutions; formulate and recommend data-driven policy enhancements to USS leadership.
  • Data Intelligence: Oversee data management and predictive analytics related to internships and full-time placement outcomes, leveraging data to identify career support needs.

Project Management, Signature Event Architecture & Resource Delegation

  • End-to-End Execution: Drive the strategic vision, budgeting input, planning, and execution of high-profile, department-specific networking events, career fairs, and symposia.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal units (Special Events, Marketing & Communications) to ensure flawless execution, brand alignment, and maximum corporate attendance.
  • Resource Allocation: Structurally deploy and assign event-support responsibilities across the career coaching team, utilizing major events as developmental milestones for junior staff.
  • ROI Assessment: Implement sophisticated feedback loops and post-event analytics to measure return on investment (ROI), reporting strategic findings to USS leadership.

Advanced Alumni Relations & Ecosystem Cultivation

  • Alumni Network Management: Serve as point of contact for accomplished alumni, formalizing mentorship structures, guest lecturer pipelines, and mock interview networks.
  • Skills Gap Analysis: Conduct regular skills-gap analyses, ensuring current students possess the cutting-edge competencies required by modern employers.
