Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Birmingham, AL, for a Human Resources Partner Manager at the UAB School of Nursing. This position provides senior‑level strategic and operational leadership for human resources and administrative operations across the UAB School of Nursing. Serves as a trusted advisor to the Dean, Associate Deans, and Department Chairs on workforce strategy, faculty affairs, organizational design, and talent management, functioning with a high degree of independence and judgment. Leads the development and execution of the School’s people strategy, including recruitment, retention, succession planning, performance management, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
Directs and oversees all HR functions and administrative operations for faculty and staff across academic, research, and complex clinical partnership environments, ensuring compliance with University policies, federal regulations, and accrediting standards. Serves as a member of School and University leadership teams and plays a key role in faculty affairs and governance processes. Acts as the primary liaison between the School of Nursing and UAB Human Resources, Faculty Affairs, and the Provost’s Office, as well as with academic and clinical partners. Leads and develops a high‑performing HR team to deliver collaborative, service‑oriented support aligned with the School’s mission, academic excellence, and clinical impact.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other relevant degree and ten years of progressively responsible operations and/or human resources experience. Working knowledge of ORACLE HR processes and experience with UAB faculty and staff hiring processes strongly desired. Grants and Contracts HR support is preferred. Candidates must possess strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, SharePoint, and ORACLE. This individual should be highly organized, detail and accuracy-oriented, self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and public relations skills. Minimum of 2 years UAB experience in an HR- related capacity strongly desired. This role will require great stamina to facilitate the ongoing multi-directional focus of the role. All work performed must be in accordance with SON and UAB policies and procedures and UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct.
