The University of Akron School of Nursing is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Instruction who will assume responsibilities primarily in the Anesthesia Track. This is a 9-month non-tenure track position.

The University of Akron School of Nursing is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Instruction who will assume responsibilities primarily in the Anesthesia Track. This is a 9-month non-tenure track position.
To be considered, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
Required
- Must possess a current RN & APRN CRNA license in the State of Ohio
- Must be currently certified/recertified by the Council on Certification/Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists
- Must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
- Must possess Clinical Practice Doctorate degree (DNP, DNAP) or Research Doctorate from a nationally accredited institution
- Current ACLS and BLS certification
- Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community
- Prior didactic anesthesia teaching experience
- Familiarity of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program’s policies and procedures
- Knowledge and skill of maneuvering computer software (Brightspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint and other related educational platforms.)
- Familiarity utilizing Typhon Group Software & Prodigy Connect
- Skill in goal setting and team building
- Analytical and organizational skills to plan, implement and evaluate program activities
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, and evaluation of candidates during the admission process, as well as assists in establishing and maintaining admission and selection criteria
- Teach and assist in the design and implementation of curriculum that enables students to obtain proper certification and ensures courses adhere to established COA guidelines and standards
- Assist in the didactic phase of the Program. Specifically, he/she will coordinate course-teaching assignments among program faculty, provide instruction in the classroom, simulation and skills lab, as well as provide student advising. Act as liaison with all program faculty regarding course content, the online learning platform, student rosters, and schedules
- Assist with COA requirements and facilitate any credentialing and recredentialing activities
- Serve on school, college, and university-wide committees
- Maintain a program of personal professional growth commensurate with faculty rank and status
- Attend continuing education and national association meetings for personal and professional development
- Network internally and externally with other institutions, schools, faculties, and professional organizations for personal and program enrichment
- Work with the Clinical site/Placement coordinator to ensure hospital, clinical site, and preceptor information is entered and maintained in shared database (Typhon) including the evaluation of each
- Ensure clinical placement agreements, student credentials, and appropriate faculty site visitors are in place
- Serve as an advisor for DNP Projects
- Maintain active CRNA practice
