The Department of Chemistry at the University of Akron (https://www.uakron.edu/chemistry) invites
applications for two (nontenure-track) Assistant Professor positions starting in August 2026.
Required Qualifications: This position requires a Ph.D. in Physics or closely-related fields.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience is preferred but not required.
The mission of the Department of Chemistry is to provide high quality undergraduate education through
community-engaged teaching, research, and service. (Physics faculty are members of the Chemistry
Department). As an urban research university, The University of Akron strives to deliver applied and
community-connected educational experiences. Therefore we invite applicants to demonstrate in their
application materials how they can contribute, through their teaching and community-engaged service, to these ongoing efforts. We are particularly interested in scholars whose work touches on the pressing needs of our local industries
Additional Position Information
Teaching Expectations: Successful candidates will be able to teach both algebra and calculus-based introductory physics courses, as well as physics courses for non-science majors.
Compensation: The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
