As an In Room Dining Server at The Umstead Hotel & Spa, the primary function of this position is to provide all In-House Guests with food and beverage service in the privacy of the guest room. The PM Shift runs from 2:00pm-10:00pm.
Additional Responsibilities for this position include:
- Each server must take pride in personal appearance to uphold the hotels standards.
- Provide service to all In-House guests of The Umstead Hotel and Spa with tasks congruent to Forbes and AAA standards.
- Accurate delivery for all orders and amenities.
- Serves guests their food and beverage in prompt, courteous manner as per the standard sequence of service.
- Timely retrieval of all dishes, trays and tables
- Daily completion of side work duties.
- Detailed cleaning and stocking of all necessary silver and dishes for the next shift
- Present physical and accurate check to guest and complete the payment process.
- To have a full knowledge of the food & beverage items & their specifications, menu prices, recipes and style of service etc.
- Ensure communication between Kitchen, Order taker and service team members.
- Communicate all relevant information pertaining to guests to Front Office, In Room Dining Captains and Management. Relay all guest related issues to Management daily, and hold line-up with the team.
- In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your manager

Qualifications:- High school or equivalent education required
- 1 year hospitality experience (preferred)
- Previous food service experience preferred but not required.
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
- Must be a self-motivator and motivator of others.
- Must work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
- Must have a good knowledge of food and preparation.
- Must have or quickly acquire a good knowledge of wine.
- Must be able to relate to all levels of guests and management.
- Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
- Able to perform and serve tables both inside and outside on the terrace
- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
- Must have impeccable attention to detail.
