Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in the HVAC industry to join our team. In this role, you will support the preparation of cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects by reviewing project specifications and collaborating closely with senior estimators and project teams. While no prior experience is required, candidates with a background or coursework in construction, engineering, or a related field are preferred. Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Communication: Engage with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and owners to gather and relay project information.
- Project Organization: Review bid lists, organize plans, and specifications, and maintain and update the bid calendar regularly.
- Team Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with the sales team regarding upcoming projects and bids.
- Plan Interpretation: Review and interpret mechanical plans, specifications, and CAD drawings to perform accurate takeoffs.
- Equipment Selection: Utilize manufacturer’s software for the proper selection of equipment, costs, and pricing to provide material in the sale of commercial HVAC products.
- Quotation Generation: Create formal quotation documents based on the bill of materials from estimates.
- Bid Management: Ensure all bid requests are returned to bidders promptly, follow up for feedback, and track job statuses.
- Data Entry: Enter project information into quoting software and organize digital job folders.
- Market Research: Review construction websites, contractor FTP sites, and educational institution bid sites for upcoming projects.
- Industry Knowledge: Understand the products represented by VaughanAir and establish key relationships within the industry.
Successful Candidates Must Have:
- Technical Expertise: Ability to learn mechanical and venting products, HVAC systems, and relevant industry standards.
- Experience: Relevant work experience in the commercial construction industry
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but relevant work experience in the HVAC industry will be considered.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting mechanical drawings and written specifications. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and PDF software is required. Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred.
- Deadline Management: Ability to meet strict deadlines.
