Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical terminology and ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10) to accurately document mental health conditions.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions employing techniques such as psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and crisis management protocols to ensure client safety and stability during emergencies.
- Utilize motivational interviewing and behavior management techniques to foster positive behavioral changes and enhance treatment adherence.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on case management plans, including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and support staff.
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant medical records and documentation while ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Engage in clinical research activities when applicable to improve therapeutic outcomes and contribute to the advancement of behavioral health practices.
- Deliver telehealth services utilizing secure platforms to expand access to mental health care across various settings.
- Work with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD, addiction issues, grief counseling needs, chronic pain management, gender issues counseling, geriatrics, pediatrics, or special education cases as required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in psychology, social work, counseling psychology or related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid licensure or certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent credential, not required.
- Proven experience in clinical counseling within outpatient or inpatient settings; day treatment experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and HIPAA regulations governing patient privacy.
- Demonstrated proficiency in evidence-based therapies such as psychotherapy, CBT, psychopharmacology collaboration skills, addiction counseling techniques, grief counseling methods, and crisis management protocols.
- Experience working with children & families, individuals with disabilities—including autism—and diverse populations across age groups including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct intake assessments effectively and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms and experience providing remote patient care is preferred.
