Job Purpose
Provides a variety of administrative support functions to enhance the operation of a program or division. (Note: This position performs departmental payroll function on a rotating basis.)
Job Environment
Work will be performed primarily in a fast-paced municipal office. Manages and coordinates multiple priorities adhering to established requirements and timeframes. Frequent use of personal computer and working at a video display terminal and reviewing computer generated reports. May frequently interface with agitated individuals in person or during telephone contacts. (Some positions require variable work schedule.)

An individual appointed to the position must satisfactorily complete a six (6) month probationary period.
Background Investigation: A thorough background and character investigation will be conducted for the specific purpose of obtaining pertinent data for Staff Assistant positions within the West Hartford Police Department. Eligible candidates will be requested to authorize a release of personal information, however personal or confidential it may appear to be, including but not limited to, educational, financial/credit agencies and institutions, medical history, employment history, legal complaints, arrests or convictions, and motor vehicle history.
