Job Title: Cook

Department: Operations (Back of the House)

Reports To: Owner and Management

Working Conditions: Normal Restaurant Environment

General Responsibilities:

• Refers to Daily Schedule for shift responsibilities.
• Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
• Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
• Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, dairy and other food items using knives, electric mixers, food processors, Hobart mixer, scales, and portion bags.
• Processes prepared foods for service using ovens, gas stoves, griddles, and fryers.
• Ensure that each item is cooked to The Toasted Yolk’s and guest’s specifications.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, broilers, sauté burners, ovens, flat top griddles and refrigeration equipment both during and after service.
• Stock inventory appropriately.
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
• Assumes responsibility for quality, food safety/sanitation and timeliness of products served.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the management staff.
• Effectively communicates product, equipment, or operational issues to Management in a timely manner.
• Washes hands frequently.
• Refers to Daily Schedule for shift responsibilities.
• Follows Daily Departmental Closing Procedures and checks with Management before leaving.

General Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and wipe.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move around at a brisk pace.
• Must be able to work well under stress.
• Must be able to work on time in a company approved uniform.
• Must maintain a professional appearance at all times.
• Must actively participate in daily Huddles.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with other team members.
• Must follow proper food handling, safety, sanitation, and cleaning standards per The Toasted Yolk guidelines.
• May be required to assist and/or give breaks in other departments.
