What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Project Administrator position at The Thrasher Group?
The Thrasher Group (TTG) is a multidisciplinary engineering and testing firm with a decades-long track record across West Virginia, Ohio, and North Carolina. We are currently seeking a sharp, highly organized Construction Project Administrator to support a major, multi-year infrastructure project in Point Pleasant, West Virginia — one of the most significant construction programs currently underway in the region.
This is not a background role. You’ll be embedded in a professional project team providing materials testing, special inspection, and owner’s technical representation on a large-scale project. Your work will directly support project leadership and will require someone who can operate with minimal supervision, communicate precisely in writing, and keep complex documentation organized and current. The position is expected to span multiple years, with an immediate start date.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and summarize field and laboratory testing reports into a single, well-organized, continuously updated project record
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of inspection results, deficiencies, and punch list items
- Track and reconcile non-standard project expenses (equipment usage, lodging, and similar items)
- Assist project leadership with drafting meeting agendas, formal minutes, and correspondence
- Attend project meetings, take accurate notes, and produce polished written summaries
- Support overall document control and filing across a multi-disciplinary project team
Qualifications
- Strong written communication skills — clear grammar, professional tone, and the ability to produce clean documentation without heavy editing
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Bluebeam
- Exceptional organizational ability — you manage complexity without losing details
- Construction industry experience is a meaningful plus; the deeper the knowledge, the better
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings is highly valuable and may be a practical requirement of the role
- Self-directed, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a project team
Position Details
- Blended role with a mix of office-based work and periodic on-site visits to Point Pleasant, WV
- Candidates should be located in West Virginia or Ohio, or within reasonable driving distance of the project site
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
- Open to both 1099 independent contractor and W-2 arrangements
- Compensation commensurate with experience
