The Assistant Director of Food Service helps ensure our stores run smoothly and our teams are set up for success. This position focuses on visiting locations, auditing operations, and coaching teams on how to meet company standards. The goal is to help everyone grow, improve consistency, and maintain the high quality and service our guests expect from The Texan.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit weekly schedule for kitchen audits to the Foodservice Director.
- Coach employees in the moment and notify kitchen managers to help them reach performance goals.
- Provide hands-on support and clear feedback to build stronger, more confident teams.
- Review store setup, cleanliness, food quality, and safety procedures.
- Follow up on audits and ensure action plans are completed.
- Communicate clearly with leadership about progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Serve as a positive example of professionalism, teamwork, and The Texan’s values.
- Completing Smallwares orders within 48 hours of stores submitting requests.
- Distributing all necessary signage, shelf tags, name tags, items that stores may need.
Employee Performance Plans
- Develop and track Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for employees who need additional support.
- Clearly outline expectations, goals, and timelines for improvement.
- Partner with kitchen managers to ensure coaching is consistent, fair, and effective.
- Follow up regularly to measure progress, provide additional coaching, and celebrate achievements.
- Document all coaching and performance discussions for accountability and long-term development by creating a file for each store and keeping records.
Reporting Structure
- Reports To: Director of Foodservice
- Works Closely With: Store Managers, Kitchen Managers, and Kitchen Employees
- Collaborates With: Corporate team, Foodservice team
Performance Expectations
- Maintain consistent audit scores across all locations, identifying and improving weak areas.
- Ensure timely completion of audits and creation of employee improvement plans.
- Demonstrate measurable progress in store performance following coaching improvement plan visits.
- Provide clear and timely audit and progress reports to leadership.
- Build trust and accountability through professional, supportive coaching interactions.
- Promote teamwork, positive morale, and alignment with The Texan brand standards and culture.
Qualifications
- Experience in restaurant operations or management (multi-unit experience a plus).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.

- Ability to travel to multiple locations as needed.
