Position Summary
Taylor Power Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Coordinator to manage and execute outbound shipping activities for finished generators, subassemblies, and other parts. This role is responsible for carrier coordination, freight documentation, packaging compliance, loading/unloading shipments, and ensuring on-time, damage-free delivery to customers. The Shipping Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining shipping accuracy, freight cost control, and customer satisfaction.
Job Accountabilities:
• Coordinate and load daily outbound shipments.
• Schedule freight pickups and deliveries with approved carriers and freight brokers.
• Obtain and compare freight quotes to ensure cost-effective shipping methods.
• Prepare and process bills of lading (BOL), packing slips, shipping labels, and freight manifests.
• Prepare documentation and coordinate shipments.
• Ensure proper packaging, crating, blocking, and bracing of generators and heavy equipment in compliance with carrier and DOT standards.
• Verify shipment accuracy against sales orders, picking software, and packing lists prior to release.
• Coordinate special shipping requirements including expedited freight, hot shots, and customer-arranged carriers.
• Track shipments and proactively communicate delays, damages, or discrepancies to internal teams and management.
• File freight claims and coordinate resolution for lost or damaged shipments.
• Maintain accurate shipping records and update ERP/shipping systems.
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and shipping regulations.
• Maintain organized staging areas for outbound freight to support efficient loading.
• Load and unload trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Other warehouse duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:Job Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or freight coordination preferred.
• Working knowledge of freight carriers, shipping documentation, and transportation regulations.
• Experience with LTL, truckload, and small package shipping systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to work within ERP and shipping software systems.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
