Create.), we are seeking a motivated Science Teacher to spark curiosity and guide hands-on discovery in our collaborative Montessori environment. What You Will Do:
- Inspire Discovery: Nurture students' curiosity across biology, physics, chemistry, earth science, and astronomy using hands-on activities, lab experiments, and field trips.
- Teach the Curriculum: Implement The T.E.C. School’s Science Scope & Sequence while integrating S.T.E.A.M. projects.
- Embrace Montessori: Integrate your science lessons with our Montessori curriculum. (Montessori certification is not required, but a willingness to learn the pedagogy is essential).
- Lead our STEAMFaire: Play an integral role in planning and executing our exciting annual STEAM Faire.
- Maintain the Lab: Create a safe, clean, and orderly environment, including the upkeep and inventory of science materials.
- Support All Learners: Work effectively with students of various abilities, including those with learning differences, ensuring their welfare and educational achievement.
- Collaborate: Take direction from classroom lead teachers and the Director, incorporate feedback, and complete all required evaluations and student records in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive STEM curricula that incorporate hands-on experiments, real-world applications, and technology integration
- Design engaging lesson plans aligned with educational standards and tailored to diverse learning styles and student needs
- Facilitate laboratory activities including dissection, microscopy, and molecular biology techniques to enhance experiential understanding of scientific concepts
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement
- Collaborate with colleagues to refine instructional strategies, share best practices, and ensure curriculum consistency across grade levels
- Manage classroom environments effectively to promote positive behavior, safety, and active participation among students from various cultural backgrounds
- Incorporate educational technology tools to create interactive lessons that enhance learning outcomes and engagement
What We Are Looking For:
- Proven experience teaching science at the middle or high school level, preferably in private or independent school settings
- Strong knowledge of STEM subjects including biology (cell biology, microbiology, genetics), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (trigonometry, calculus, differential equations), and mathematics (algebra, geometry, discrete math)
- Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum content that integrates laboratory experiments with theoretical instruction
- Familiarity with educational technology platforms and IT-integrated lesson planning methods
- Experience managing classrooms effectively while fostering a positive learning environment
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues on lesson planning, instructional design, and educational initiatives
- Ability to commit to a part-time schedule (3-6 hours/week).
- Note: Prior Montessori experience is a plus, but we will support the right candidate in learning our pedagogy.
