- This is professional work supervising and directing employees. The primary duty of the incumbent in this position is to spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to effectively recommend actions such as: hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, promote, discharge, assign, and reward or discipline direct reports. Evaluates employees against established standards and takes appropriate actions when necessary (i.e. recognition, reward, corrective action, etc.).
- Oversees and supervises the research analyst staff and activities in the HQ office.
- Oversees evaluation projects related to Florida’s substance use issues and needs.
- Assists in developing and implementing statutorily mandated reports and plans.
- Coordinates efforts with other analysts and epidemiologists.
- Reviews programs, services, forms and reports and confers with management and others to identify problems and improvements.
- Interact with a variety of professional, governmental, and regulatory contacts both as a representative of the SAMH and as a member of professional organizations.
- Serves as resource person to other staff in headquarters and regional program offices. Perform other duties and responsibilities pertaining to the needs of the Department, including but not limited to research, assisting with grant writing, data analysis, and strategic planning.

- A bachelor's degree from a college or university in behavioral health or a closely related field is preferred and 4 years of professional experience in behavioral health or a related field.
- Two years’ experience supervising or serving in a leadership role.
- Two years’ experience in implementing and managing complex projects.
- Three years of experience with academic, business, or technical writing.
- A master's degree from a college or university in behavioral health or a closely related field can substitute for one year of the required experience.
