ADVERTISING TITLE: ACCOUNTANT IV

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Finance and Accounting.

The purpose of the Accountant IV is to ensure accurate financial management by processing invoices and receipts, maintaining and auditing accounts receivable records, developing operational recommendations, assisting with accounting systems, providing customer service, and reviewing revenue contracts.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

• Prepares and reviews invoices, tracks receipts, and enters financial documents into the accounting system.
• Maintains and audits accounts receivable records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Develops recommendations and corrective action plans based on accounting data and audit reports and helps implement and monitor these plans.
• Assists with new and updated accounting systems and procedures.
• Provides customer service and reviews revenue contracts for entry into the accounting system.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

• Must possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Must possess at least one (1) year of experience in accounting.

• Two (2) years of experience in accounting, auditing or in computer data analysis which involves accounting or auditing data analysis which involves accounting or auditing data.

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
