Job Overview
The Starz Program is hiring Summer Camp Instructors to lead cheerleading, ballet, ninja fitness, and sports summer camps for children ages 2-12. We partner with private schools, daycares, and county clubs across the west end of Richmond to provide their campers with specialty camp offerings on-site at their camp locations. Starz team members are positive, reliable, professional, and spread SHINE. This is a seasonal position with the opportunity to remain on the Starz team during the 2026-2027 school year. We will be hiring 8 Summer Camp Instructors over the next few months so feel free to share the opportunity with others!
Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead instructor for specialty summer camp offerings (ballet, cheerleading, ninja fitness, or sports).
- Lead high-quality instruction using provided curriculum and your own creativity for 1-3 hour summer camp sessions.
- Effectively manage a group of 8-15 students with strong classroom management skills.
- Ensure a safe, structured, and fun environment for all campers.
- Adhere to daily camp routines such as check-ins, check-outs, snack times, and transitions between activities while supervising students at all times.
- Respond to all communication from Starz staff, partners, and parents in a professional manner within 24 hours.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older with a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have relevant experience directly supervising children and leading activities at youth camps.
- Must have a reliable car and be able to perform work on-site at partner locations
- Must have proof of a valid driver’s license
- Must have proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must be able to lift and carry class equipment and supplies up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to walk, sit, bend, squat, raise arms above head, run short distances, and move around a classroom or similar type space to teach fitness classes and monitor students without limitation.
Training: All Summer Camp Instructors will be required to complete training before June 1st, 2026. This will include completing a background check as well as virtual and in-person training to prepare for your summer camp offerings.
Expected Hours:
- Monday - Friday between 9:00am-12:00pm and/or 1:00-4:00pm.
- Expect to work approx. 4 to 8 weeks over the summer between June 8th - August 21st, 2026. You will work with Starz leadership to select the weeks that you will work based on your availability and specialty area (cheerleading, ballet, or sports/fitness).

Pay & Perks:
- $15/hour (approx. $250-500 per week)
- Fun and supportive local Starz team to provide mentorship and support
- Opportunity to remain on the Starz team during the 2026-2027 school year

- Responsible – arrives early, can successfully manage up to 8-15 students, organized and can keep accurate attendance.
- Professional – neat in appearance, friendly and courteous with partner site staff.
- Enthusiastic – MUST enjoy teaching and working with young children, be able to confidently connect with children primarily ages 2-12.
- Fun – enjoys having FUN with young children, being goofy, using your imagination, and watching children smile all while managing and teaching an effective class.
- Reliable transportation – must have reliable transportation to and from partner sites and a valid driver’s license.
- Organization- Instructors are given curriculum to follow but will need time to prepare for camps outside of the classroom and bring their own ideas and creativity.
