The University seeks enthusiastic and dedicated Academic Instructors to teach courses during the summer and academic year. Academic Instructors play a key role in supporting student learning by delivering engaging instruction, reinforcing academic skills, and preparing students for success in higher education. These positions may support traditional undergraduate courses, bridge programs, summer enrichment, or academic-year learning initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with university standards and program objectives.
- Develop syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials that align with course outcomes.
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects, and exams; provide timely and constructive feedback.
- Support summer bridge, enrichment, or retention programs through academic instruction and mentoring.
- Promote critical thinking, study skills, and effective learning strategies.
- Work closely with program directors, faculty, and staff to ensure consistency and quality of instruction.
- Participate in orientation, training, and planning sessions prior to the start of instructional assignments.
- Communicate regularly with academic support teams regarding student progress.
- Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and progress records.
- Submit required reports and evaluations in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in the subject area or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Demonstrated teaching experience at the secondary or postsecondary level.
- Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
