POSTED ON 7/4/2026 CLOSED ON 7/17/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthopedic Technician position at The Staff Pad?

The Staff Pad is partnering with a healthcare organization in Helena, MT, to hire an Orthopedic Clinic Technician for their orthopedic care team. This position assists physicians with both surgical and non-surgical procedures while delivering direct and indirect patient care. This is a hands-on clinical role where you help patients recover mobility, manage injuries, and move smoothly through their treatment journey—from initial evaluation through recovery.

If you enjoy technical, fast-paced clinical work and want to make a direct difference in patient outcomes, this role keeps you close to both procedure and patient interaction.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll be a key support partner to orthopedic physicians and the clinical care team. Your work helps ensure procedures run smoothly and patients receive safe, consistent, and well-coordinated care.

You will:

  • Assist physicians with orthopedic procedures (both surgical and non-surgical)
  • Support fracture reductions, traction applications, and hardware removals
  • Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and immobilization devices
  • Perform dressing changes and wound care support
  • Fit patients for orthopedic braces and devices, including patient education on use and care
  • Help coordinate procedure scheduling and clinic flow
  • Ensure completion of pre-surgical requirements such as testing, prior authorizations, and care coordination
  • Contribute to a smooth, efficient, and patient-centered orthopedic clinic experience

Why This Role Matters

Orthopedic care is often about precision, timing, and follow-through. In this role, you’re not just assisting—you’re helping ensure patients can:

  • Recover safely after injury or surgery
  • Understand and properly use orthopedic supports and devices
  • Move efficiently through care without delays or gaps
  • Experience consistent, coordinated clinical support
  • Your work directly affects both clinical outcomes and patient confidence.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology

Preferred:

  • Experience in a hospital, or orthopedic clinic, or sports medicine setting
  • Degree in Athletic Training

Ideal Candidate

You’re a strong fit if you:

  • Stay calm and organized in fast-paced clinical environments
  • Enjoy hands-on technical work with patients
  • Communicate clearly with both providers and patients
  • Value precision, teamwork, and follow-through
  • Take initiative in supporting both clinical and administrative workflow
  • Consistently attend staff meetings and actively participate in continuing education to maintain clinical competency and support overall team success

This role offers the chance to work closely with orthopedic specialists in a collaborative care environment where your skills directly support patient recovery and surgical success.

If you are someone looking to deepen clinical experience in orthopedics while contributing meaningfully to a high-functioning care team, we encourage you to apply today!
