Overview
The Spence School seeks a dynamic scholar-practitioner to join a collaborative and forward-thinking Modern and Classical Languages Department. We are looking for a French educator who possesses a deep love for the language and a nuanced understanding of the developmental needs of students in Grades 5–8.

Responsibilities
● Teach introductory through intermediate French, employing both traditional and innovative pedagogies to engage middle school learners.
● Collaborate within teaching teams to design assessments and methods that ensure a seamless transition from Middle to Upper School.
● Weave the history, culture, and current events of the Francophonie into the curriculum, encouraging students to engage critically with the successes and challenges of the modern Francophone world.
● Actively participate in department and school-wide initiatives centered on equity, pedagogy, and curricular innovation.
● Serve as a Middle School Advisor (if full-time), acting as the primary advocate for a small cohort of students and a partner to their families regarding academic and social-emotional growth.

- Sustained teaching experience with a proven track record of engaging and inspiring middle school-aged learners.
- Native or near-native proficiency in French.
- A Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in French, French Studies, or a related field.
