Job Overview:
Part-time position receiving telephone calls from customers seeking information on accessing door-to-door/curb-to-curb transportation opportunities through the transportation programs coordinated by The SPAN Center.
Supervision:
Performs work under the direct supervision of the Mobility & Transportation Manager. Participates in team activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Accept and answer telephone calls from potential passengers in a consistent manner during The SPAN Center core business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Collect and document all necessary information from callers to correctly schedule transportation requests.
- Complete entry of client information onto in-house transportation request documents, to include negotiating requested times with callers when necessary and appropriate, given provider availability.
- Provide feedback to callers by way of follow-up calls as a standard procedure to confirm appointment dates, pick-up times and fees, if any, for transportation arranged by The SPAN Center.
- Provide transportation request information in a timely manner to The SPAN Center Transportation Coordinator.
- Communicate changes in ride-requests and/or cancellations in a timely manner with The SPAN Center Transportation Coordinator.
- Consistently maintain accurate record keeping and appropriate filing system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of human service transportation, scheduling and experience in call centers.
- Practical understanding of the importance of transportation to support other services.
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other staff and representatives from other agencies and organizations.
- Experience with utilizing the services of volunteers and Service Providers.
- Possess an ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and effectively.
Education and Experience:
Education in a field related to business, gerontology or human services. Progressive experience in transportation and related service delivery for seniors, persons with disabilities and caregivers is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of sitting behind a vehicle for travel time within our planning district.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
