What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Advisor position at The Smelting Point?
CENTRAL FLORIDA PICK AND PAY
Parts Advisor
Call Center - Orlando, FL - Full-time, on-site
Saturday availability required
About the role
Central Florida Pick and Pay is a self-service auto parts yard, where customers come in and pull the parts they need themselves. As a Parts Advisor, you are the first voice our customers hear. You will answer inbound phone calls, look up each caller's vehicle and the part they need in our parts-search system, tell them which matching vehicles we have in the yard, and invite them to come in and pull the part themselves.
This is a seated, computer-based phone role. There is no parts pulling and no heavy lifting. We care more about hiring someone who genuinely enjoys cars and wants to learn than someone who already knows every part by name.
What you'll do
- Answer inbound calls from customers with a friendly, patient, and helpful manner.
- Collect the year, make, and model of the customer's vehicle, along with the part they are looking for.
- Search our Hollander parts system to find matching vehicles currently available in the yard. We will train you on Hollander; no prior experience with it is needed.
- Work out which listed part covers what the customer needs, including cases where the part they want is a component of a larger assembly listed in the system.
- Explain the benefits of our self-service yard and encourage customers to visit and pull their part.
- Answer questions about pricing, yard hours, location, and how the self-service process works.
- Keep clear, accurate notes of each customer interaction in our system.
- Help with light administrative or paperwork tasks during slower call periods, and take on other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we're looking for
- A genuine interest in cars and how they work. You do not need to be a mechanic or memorize parts; curiosity and a willingness to learn are what count.
- Comfort using a computer and learning a lookup system.
- Strong customer-service instincts: patient, clear, and friendly, even on difficult calls.
- Good attention to detail when capturing vehicle information and call notes.
- Reliability and punctuality, and comfort in a seated, phone-based role.
- Availability to work Saturdays, with some flexibility on shift times.
Nice to have
- Previous call center or customer service experience.
- Familiarity with car parts, automotive repair, or working in or around a parts or salvage yard.
- Experience with Hollander or a similar parts or inventory lookup system.
- Spanish-language ability. Not required, but helpful for occasional Spanish-speaking callers.
