Job Description
California Western Railroad / Skunk Train is Class III common carrier freight and passenger railroad that was founded in 1885, and operates 40 miles between Fort Bragg and Willits, inMendocino County, California.
As a professional and outgoing person, the Depot Manager / Retail Lead is directly responsible for overseeing the various public facing aspects of the operations including but not limited to, freight car inventory, ticket and retail sales, seat assignments.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Mentor, motivate, participate and supervise all ticketing / retail / PSA staff, necessary equipment, suppliers, and supplies.
- Oversees compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Work closely with the event team to keep them abreast of any and all details.
- Liaison closely with Retail Manager (department head) on a variety of tasks.
- Provides advanced ridership reports to other event departments.
- Ensures all equipment, inventory, and supplies are closely managed and protected.
- Ensures all expenditures are within budgetary guidelines.
- Addresses and adequately resolve any customer / guest issues.
- Other duties as requested or required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in direct supervision of staff.
- Must have availability to work nights, weekends or early mornings.
- Ability to work with large staff in close quarters in fast paced environment, able to take direction and process information.
- Ability to work accurately and not get rattled; ability to think quickly and be a good problem solver.
- Ability to learn new software and complex computer tasks quickly and accurately.
- Software knowledge and proficiency in the Microsoft Suite - Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to board and deboard a train.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Foreign Language.
- Two years of customer /guest service experience.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check required prior to hiring.
Employment will be part time and will include sick leave.

Projected Total Compensation: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
