Position Description:Overview:
This position is responsible for assisting the supervision and administration of all activities of the accounting department to ensure that established policies and procedures are followed for efficient and effective operations. They will work with the CFO to develop objectives and define steps necessary to achieve them, as well as working with staff to ensure timely completion of all duties. This individual is also responsible for updates on current compliance issues relative to accounting. Will also play a key role with Shelby Financial Corporation.
Responsibilities and Results:
Directly supervise accounting specialist.
Communicate regularly and constantly with staff regarding policies and procedures to ensure their proper adherence.
Coordinates hiring and training of department personnel.
Performs annual evaluations for all staff.
Handles complex problems, reports and issues as they arise.
Must be available for assistance and support for all branch personnel, including tellers, customer service representatives, and supervisors.
Assist CFO in preparation of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports and scans documents for retention.
Assist CFO in preparation of annual budgets for the organization.
Assist CFO in preparation of monthly board and management meetings and regulatory compliance.
Monitors and approves all payables for services, supplies and maintenance orders.
Will attend additional training, staff meetings and committee participation as required.
Provides recommendations for technology, procedure or policy upgrades as necessary and beneficial to the bank.
Will act as the primary point of contact for Shelby Financial Corporation and its shareholders while building and maintaining strong relationships with shareholders by responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Will manage investor database to ensure that information is up to date and accurate.
Assists in upgrade and implementation of new systems and programs as needed.
Works with supervisors in all areas, including adjustments for Federal Reserve and JP Morgan Chase for error resolution, Jack Henry Processing and daily balancing.
Communicates periodic compliance updates to appropriate individuals.
Serves as contact for external auditors as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or related field required.
Work Experience:
5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role required. Banking experience preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel and various other programs is required.
Must have good math skills.
Supervisory experience and good working knowledge of the functions and operations of accounting, finance and banking reporting requirements.
Ability to collaborate with other departments and all levels of associates.
Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to maintain positive relationships with others are expected.
Willingness to assume new responsibilities.
Ability to identify, assist with and resolve routine problems.
