Job Description:
-Senior Accountant and Yardi expert needed for Property Management Company in Annapolis, MD.
-Lead transition of accounting software to Yardi. Knowledge of Yardi and other accounting software structure, data and functions specific to affordable housing will be critical to success. Strong senior accounting experience will be critical to success.
-Serves on the accounting staff and supports CFO in accounting software leadership training and accounting operations. Provides support and training to the field members in use of leasing software.
-May be asked to supervise the work of more junior accountants.
-Position can become hybrid after period of initial work experience with Severn.
Functions may include but are not limited to:
· Primary responsibility for the transition of accounting and leasing software to Yardi!
· Set up new properties in Yardi (leasing and tenant software) in a correct and timely manner.
· Support software users from the field and corporate teams (140 end users) in use of various software platforms (especially Yardi).
· Support, trouble shoot, and set up new users in software programs such as Yardi, GraceHill, MS Teams, Callmax, First Advantage, HALP, etc.
· Responsible for producing reconciled financial statements for multiple legal property entities. These financial statements include but are not limited to:
· Bank Reconciliations (and resolving any issues with deposits or withdrawals)
· Tying out Tenant and Subsidy Accounts Receivable Ledgers to the Balance Sheet
· Reviews financial statements and poses questions and suggested courses of action to correct and improve financial performance for the operational team and/or the CFO.
· Sends out various owner reports on a monthly basis as requested. Different owners and investors require various reports, some of which are vast and detailed.
· Leads and/or participates in the annual budget process and assists District and Regional Managers as needed and requested.
· Troubleshoots any integration and reconciliation issues between the billing system and financial system.
· Participates in year-end audit or review pre-planning and preparation.
Skills/Experience:
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Strong Accounting experience required.
· Strong software leadership experience and transition leadership needed.
· Experience in training, coaching, supervising, and evaluating staff members
· Affordable Housing Programs
· At least 2 years’ experience with Yardi Software systems
· At least 2 years’ experience in accounting of affordable housing properties
Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 per year
