The Seven Hills School is seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to serve as a long-term substitute teacher for a Pre-Kindergarten classroom from early March through the end of the current school year. This position offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students and families while leading a small, engaging classroom community.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of pre-kindergarten learners. Maintain continuity with existing curriculum while incorporating your own creative teaching strategies.
- Establish and maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child’s progress, classroom activities, and any concerns. This includes informal daily updates, scheduled conferences, and responsive communication as needed.
- Complete comprehensive end-of-year report cards for all students, documenting developmental progress, skills mastery, and individual growth throughout the spring term.
- Create a warm, nurturing, structured classroom environment where young learners feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. Manage classroom routines, transitions, and behavior guidance using positive, developmentally appropriate approaches.
- Collaborate with the shared assistant teacher to ensure smooth daily operations, including coordinating activities, supervising students, and maintaining classroom organization.
Qualifications
All candidates should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred
- Three or more years of teaching experience at the preschool or early elementary level.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate practices
- Excellent communication skills with both children and adults
- Ability to step into an established classroom and build rapport quickly
