Staff Accountant
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of recording and maintaining financial information for each assigned property, including but not limited to posting payable and receivable batches, preparation of the monthly financial statements with all supporting schedules and workpapers, year-end tenant reconciliations, annual operating budgets, and financial reports and analyses as determined by management.
Primary Responsibilities
· Review and post cash receipts for assigned properties on a timely basis.
· Review and post accounts payable batches for assigned properties on a timely basis.
· Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties on time per the contractual deadlines for
each property. This work will include, but not be limited to, the following:
o General ledger analysis.
o Bank account reconciliations.
o Updating balance sheet workpapers.
o Maintaining fixed asset schedules.
o Creating and posting adjusting journal entries.
o Process financial reports, including a balance sheet, income statement, budget comparison and trial
balance.
o Update and analyze 12 month rolling cash flow report.
· Prepare and analyze year-end tenant reconciliations and update tenant annual invoices for assigned
properties.
· Prepare reconciliation invoices for annual pay tenants for real estate tax and insurance on a timely basis.
· Prepare and analyze operating budgets for assigned properties.
· Work closely with The Property Management Department on tenant accounts receivable matters and any
other assistance required by Property Management.
Education, Experience & Skills
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related field from recognized college or university.
· 3 years of experience as a staff accountant working in a multi-company environment with an integrated
general ledger software.
· Experience in all aspects of revenue and expense cycles.
· Experience with financial statement preparation on a cash and accrual basis.
· Experience in commercial real estate or property management preferred, but not required.
· Experience with Microsoft’s Excel and Word.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Must have good time management skills and be able to meet tight deadlines.
