Essential Functions
- Repairs, installs, and maintains gas and oil burners and controls, tanks, pressure vessels, and related industrial and residential equipment gauges and valves, including pressure, sequential, boiler, lead-lag and safety valves and gauges.
- Checks reading on meters and gauges; adjusts equipment controls in order to verify readings under specified operating conditions; records data such as equipment temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, and temperature in diagnosing equipment malfunctions; performs fuel analyses in diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
- Tests, adjusts, installs, and repairs equipment following blueprints, schematic drawings, and verbal or written instructions.
- Prepares project time and materials estimates.
- Oversees the work of trades trainees and helpers.
High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of experience learning the automatic plant trade as an apprentice.
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- the methods, materials and tools of the automatic plant trade.
- the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the automatic plant trade.
- the theory and principles of the operation of heating and cooling systems.
- the operation of the electronic controls and motors associated with the operation of heating and cooling systems.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
- interpret and work from blueprints, schematic drawings, and specifications.
- accurately follow oral and written instructions.
