ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
Schedule/Hours: M- F 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
This position is responsible for:
Maintains and strengthens The Salvation Army image in the community and raises awareness of the Area Command or Corps activities through various functions; focuses on special use of the facility, including but not limited to, meetings, birthday parties and other special events; plans, schedules and coordinates projects, activities, and events related to volunteers for the Area Command or Corps; recruits, trains, and coordinates the work of volunteers to ensure ample coverage to meet the needs of all areas of the Area Command or Corps; develops, promotes and maintains a wide range of volunteer opportunities; leads all planning and execution of special events occurring within the Area Command or Corps
- Oversees the recruiting, training, interviewing and screening of all volunteers; oversees and coordinates all volunteer training and instructs volunteers in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness; creates and updates volunteer training manuals and resources as needed. Duty
- Prepares and maintains up-to-date database records on all volunteers; confers with supervisor regarding the status and performance of the volunteer program and reports monthly on the status of the volunteer program.
- Provides direction and support to volunteer groups and seasonal staff under his/her supervision; evaluates volunteer group projects; provides analysis of in-kind value of volunteer projects.
- Serves as agency contact to Individuals, Community Businesses and Corporations seeking to complete volunteer projects at the Center; serves as supervisor to such individuals and groups during volunteer projects.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to perform public speaking.
- Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5 – 10% of work time.
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university related in Business Administration, Non-Profit Administration, Marketing, or related field, and
- Two to three years progressively responsible experience overseeing special events and/or volunteer- related activities, or
- Any equivalent combinations of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
