Housing Monitor (4533)

This position is responsible for:

• accepting and processing residents staying in the shelter and maintaining accurate records containing pertinent information.  Prepares, cooks and serves meals in accordance with established guidelines and schedules.

Key Responsibilities : 

• Checks residents into the shelter; prepares and monitors clients and maintains resident records.
• Monitors the activities of the shelter residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; check the security and makes periodic rounds of the entire facility. 
• Answers the phone and responds to questions regarding the shelter operations.
• Prepares, cooks and serves food in a presental be manner.  Cleans and maintains the appearance of kitchen and dining facilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• and
• one year experience performing security work or working in a social service environment,
• or
• any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• None.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents to control, lead and motivate behavior.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initating the proper corrective action.
• Knowledge of proper cooking methods and proceures.
• Ability to cook nutritional and safe food for large groups in a timely manner.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• Work requires the ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials, supplies and equipment.
• Ability to cook, taste and smell food.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work requires performance of duties in social services environment where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases are possible.
