What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Monitor (4533) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
This position is responsible for:
- accepting and processing residents staying in the shelter and maintaining accurate records containing pertinent information. Prepares, cooks and serves meals in accordance with established guidelines and schedules.
Key Responsibilities :
- Checks residents into the shelter; prepares and monitors clients and maintains resident records.
- Monitors the activities of the shelter residents ensuring safety and compliance with house rules; check the security and makes periodic rounds of the entire facility.
- Answers the phone and responds to questions regarding the shelter operations.
- Prepares, cooks and serves food in a presental be manner. Cleans and maintains the appearance of kitchen and dining facilities.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- and
- one year experience performing security work or working in a social service environment,
- or
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- None.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents to control, lead and motivate behavior.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initating the proper corrective action.
- Knowledge of proper cooking methods and proceures.
- Ability to cook nutritional and safe food for large groups in a timely manner.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Work requires the ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials, supplies and equipment.
- Ability to cook, taste and smell food.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work requires performance of duties in social services environment where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases are possible.
