Housing Assistant (3548)

Schedule/Hours: M – F 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm (40 hours per week); every other weekend (rotates)

This position is responsible for:

Accepts and processes residents staying in the Family Haven Shelter. Completes assigned documentation for intake and discharge of residents. Monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Check residents into shelter; process resident discharges. Documents activities and issues in log book

• Transports residents as needed. Respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly  

• Answers telephone and responds to questions concerning lodge/shelter operations. Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a lodge/shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long distances or heavy traffic

• Work requires performance of duties in front-line emergency, disaster, and social service environments where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases are possible.

• High School Diploma or GED and Valid State Drivers License and

• One year experience performing security or social service work preferred or

• Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
